Dance
Program Description:
Dance classes at Jesús Moroles cover the foundations, application, creative expression, and performance goals of dance as an artform. Dance students gain a strong base in ballet, jazz, and modern, while also gaining experience in other forms of dance, such as Folklorico, musical theatre, and hip-hop. Through daily lessons, students come to understand dance fundamentals from multiple perspectives, including historical, anatomical, and artistic. Students explore the three pillars of dance (creating, performing, and responding) by creating their own choreographic works, performing on stage and in class, and analyzing their place in the dance world.
Dancers at Jesús Moroles perform in an annual performance of The Nutcracker each December. In the Spring, dancers perform various new works, including student choreography. Dancers also participate in various performances in the community throughout the year, as well as collaborative performances with the other Vanguard departments.
